Andrew Shapter is an American filmmaker; writer, director and photographer, living in Austin, Texas. Shapter completed treatment for cancer in October 2014 and is now healthy and hard at work.

Shapter is currently developing new film projects while anticipating the release of his latest film,“The Teller and the Truth,” which he wrote and directed. This film, Shapter’s first narrative feature, set in 1970s Smithville, Texas, relates the story of an enigmatic bank teller and the mystery surrounding her disappearance. “The Teller and The Truth” was shot on location in Texas, India, and France.

Shapter made the transition to film in 2006, building onto a 15 year career as a fashion photographer in major international markets. Shapter’s first film, “Before the Music Dies”, which he co-wrote and directed, delivers a razor sharp commentary on homogenization in contemporary popular music and features perspectives from Erykah Badu, Elvis Costello, Eric Clapton, Bonnie Raitt, and Questlove. “Before the Music Dies” premiered at the 2006 SXSW Film Festival.

Shapter released his second documentary in 2009. “Happiness Is” explores what it means to be happy in America and features notable thought leaders including the Dalai Lama and Willie Nelson. Between films, Andrew worked for HBO, National Geographic Television, and directed music videos for a variety of artists including Willie Nelson and The Roots.

Carl Thiel is an award winning composer/producer based in Austin, Texas.

Born into a European family and raised in Mexico City, he was exposed to a rich and wide variety of cultural experiences and musical styles from a very early age.

Over the past decade, Carl has steadily turned his focus from writing music for advertising and album production, to scoring feature films and TV shows. He recently finished scoring the second season of "From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series”, and the independent feature “The Teller and the Truth” is slated to premiere at the 2015 Austin Film Festival.

Carl has had the privilege of working with amazing creative forces such as Robert Rodriguez, Sandra Bullock, Willie Nelson, John Debney, Bob Schneider, Billy Gibbons, Eric Johnson, Grupo Fantasma, Ray Benson, Andrés Levin, Selena, Stephen Barber, Joe Ely, Stephen Bruton, Del Castillo, Los Lonely Boys, Patricia Vonne,Andrew Shapter, Monte Montgomery, Trevor Romain, Powerhouse Animation and many more. He's received multiple accolades, including a Latin GRAMMY® nomination and three ASCAP Film & TV Awards. He has served many years on the Board of Governors of the Texas Chapter of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, and frequently volunteers his time to teach and work with high school and college students across the state during educational events such as GRAMMY U Speaker Series and GRAMMY Camp.
